Erica Becks currently works as a youth development manager for Juma Ventures. Her areas of professional interest include: cultural competency & diversity, program evaluation & analysis, work/life balance, social justice programming for disadvantaged/ marginalized populations (particularly integrating mindfulness & social justice). Erica received her Masters in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley's School of Social Welfare and her Bachelors in Cultural Anthropology from Brown University. Her passions and interests include: ethnic dance, taking walks, travel, texas hold em poker, foreign & indie movies, eastern philosophy, wine tasting, and spending time with family & friends.
Erica Cali, born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area, has dedicated time to many nonprofits all over California. After pursuing a degree in Global Studies with an Emphasis in Cultures and Ideologies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Erica currently works for The Bar Association of San Francisco in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Department. She enjoys working with the public and finding ways to make the San Francisco Bay Area a better community for all, with a particular interest in the homeless and low income families.
Ryan Elsey has a host of volunteer and professional nonprofit experience. He currently works for St. Anthony Foundation, a crucial social services provider to San Francisco's poor and homeless. Ryan has volunteered previously with Detroit Freedom House, a residential program and legal advocate for refugees and asylum seekers. He earned his BA in history and philosophy from the University of Detroit Mercy. In his spare time, Ryan likes to hike and run the through Bay Area's many beautiful parks.

Tiauna George currently works as a Grants Assistant for The James Irvine Foundation. Prior to joining the Foundation, Tiauna worked at Pacific Gas & Electric Co. She holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley. In her spare time, Tiauna is an avid baseball fan and enjoys many outdoor activities as well as reading and hanging out with friends.
Sabine Gillert, is a Senior Brand Consultant with nearly ten years of experience in the Recruitment Advertising Industry, Sabine is part of a global team of Senior Brand Consultants responsible for delivering Employer Brand Research and Strategy to a large domestic and multi-national client base. Originally from Germany and raised in South Africa, Sabine has an innate understanding of global hiring issues and needs. Prior to moving to the San Francisco, she spent five years in London where she became interested in volunteering projects that have an impact on solving hunger and had spent time with the London branch of The Food Chain helping to prepare meals for people living with HIV. Since her arrival in San Francisco, she has contributed time to the GLIDE sandwich making project. When she is not solving global client recruitment challenges or preparing food, Sabine can be spotted running the trails in Golden Gate Park.
Erica Hernandez is a native of Daly City and has volunteered and worked in a number of non-profit organizations throughout the Bay Area. After graduating from Santa Clara University, with a BS in Sociology and a minor in Urban Education and Spanish, Erica worked as a Director of Instruction at SCORE! Educational Center directing a tutoring program and serving as the regions Spanish speaking representative. From this experience she was able to build her managing and sales skills so that she could move to the non-profit sector and work on fund raising and has since been involved with Aim High Summer Program and Telegraph Neighborhood Center. Currently, Erica serves as an Admissions Associate and Outreach Coordinator at The Urban School of San Francisco.
Kristin Hunter, a Bay Area native, currently lives in downtown San Francisco and works in corporate communications at Hill & Knowlton, a public relations firm. Kristin graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and also spent a
semester interning in Washington, D.C. and a semester studying abroad in Sevilla, Spain. Kristin enjoys volunteer projects that are interactive and people-oriented, with a particular interest in programs that help support San Francisco’s homeless and individuals with drug abuse issues.

Lauren Lindahl was born and raised in San Francisco. After graduating from NYU with a BA in Anthropology, she returned to the west coast and began working for the Bar Association of San Francisco. She has volunteered for the Sierra Club, Rainforest Alliance, Citizens Union, and the Brooklyn DA's Office. Her interests include traveling, cooking, hiking and camping, and practicing her Spanish.
Liz Rockstroh was born and raised in Texas, and has been living in California for the past six years. She has a BA in Sociology and a M.P.P.A. in Public Policy and Administration. Currently, Liz works at City College of San Francisco in the Student Activities and Student Development Offices. In addition to her work, Liz is pursuing an Ed.D. from UC Davis where she is exploring the topics of student success and retention. In her free time, Liz enjoys swimming, reading good books, knitting, hiking, teaching Baby Sign Language classes, and traveling!!
Jalyn Travis grew up in Indiana and attended Purdue University where she received a B.S. in Accounting and Business Management. The last few years she worked as a Portfolio
Control Analyst and Financial Accountant in the investment management industry in Los Angeles. Earlier this year she moved to San Francisco and at that time decided to make the switch from the for-profit world to the non-profit sector. This led to her current position as an Accounting Analyst at Room to Read, where she is passionate about the work they do in bringing educational resources to children all over the world! Outside the office, she is planning for her wedding this coming September and enjoys cooking great vegetarian food, drinking wine with friends, and exploring the natural beauty of the Bay Area. Glad to be a part of the 2008 LIFT Program!
Andrew Whang was born in Seoul, Korea, grew up in Los Angeles, California, and now can't imagine living anywhere else than in the Bay Area. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley (Go Bears!) and works as a Sr. Software Engineer at a startup called Citizen Sports. Traveling the world allows him to explore different walks of life, but living in San Francisco keeps him grounded and sane... well, sometimes sane. He is proud of the change Hands On Bay Area is creating for this awesome city and is excited to be serving as a LIFT fellow.
