Leadership Team Member Job Description
As a member of the Leadership Team, you will help ensure your Be the Change Day (BTCD) project runs smoothly from a logistical standpoint.  Your role is truly vital not only to the success of your project, but also to the overall day. Your general responsibilities as a leadership team member are:

Participate in a site visit (or meet with your team if a site visit is not necessary) to:

  • Familiarize yourself with the agency
  • Establish your relationship with the agency contact
  • Assess the tasks to be completed
  • Determine how best to allocate volunteers in order to complete the project on time
  • Assign team members to ensure the completion of  specific tasks

Ensure that your project will have the supplies needed to complete the tasks by completing a tool/supplies request form (not all projects need supplies). You will identify what will be provided by the agency and/or by Hands On Bay Area (HOBA). Requested and approved Project Supplies will be delivered to your project site! Project Site Checklist and Tool Form are due to HOBA by Friday, June 20, 2008.

Identify any contingency plans so that on BTCD you are prepared to adjust the project should there be a medical emergency, rain, a smaller or a larger number of people attending, etc.

Keep open lines of communication between yourself, the agency, staff and your leadership team.

Recruit volunteers to attend your project.
Sign in volunteers and ensure minors have signed minor consent forms.
Plan the project kick-off and wrap-up, including securing in-kind donations.
Lead a team of volunteers volunteering.

Leadership Team Captain
The additional responsibilities of the team captain may be assigned to one leadership team member, or distributed among the team.

Recruit sufficient leadership team members for your project.
Be the point of contact and communication with HOBA staff and your team.

Facilitate site visit/leadership team meeting in coordination with HOBA staff.

Clarify or assign roles/tasks for team members.

Coordinate with your leadership team members on BTCD to ensure everything goes smoothly.

HOBA Staff & Board Members
A HOBA Staff and/or Board member may or may not be assigned to your leadership team.  When possible the staff/board member will participate as a full leadership team member with the following additional expectations.

Attend the leadership team site visit.
Assist in the kick off (you are representing Hands On Bay Area!).

Introduce yourself to the agency representative.

Interact with media (coordinate with Board Member).

Interact with the volunteers.

Participate in the wrap up.

Turn in donations (if any) and registration forms to the office.
