Group Volunteering
Our goal is to empower our volunteers and groups to sign themselves up for projects. Volunteering with your group at one of our existing community projects is free, and your whole group can sign up online. Find the project that best suits your group’s needs by viewing our online Project Calendar or look at projects that are good for groups. Once you have found the project that fits your needs, follow these steps to create a team.
How to create a team:
our online orientation and creating an account.
 |
|
Log-in to your account and click on “Create a Volunteering Team”. |
 |
|
You can invite your entire group to be part of your team and that will send each of
|
them an email. They will each need to accept the invitation and go through our quick online orientation and create a profile.
 |
|
Go to the project on the website that you would like to sign your team up for and
|
as long as you are the team captain you will see a button that says “Select one of my teams”. It will take you to a page that has a list of all of your team members that have gone through the orientation and are active in our system. You will only be allowed to sign those members up. The other ones will still need to create accounts to be signed up for the project.
Thanks and we hope that your group decides to volunteer with us!
Frequently Asked Questions:
What if I have a large group and I can’t find a project on our calendar largeenough for all of us?
The project size listed on our Web site is determined by the work that is needed by our agency partner. Extra people won’t have enough work to do, and that’s a recipe for a bad experience. See also “What if I want a custom project for my group?”
What if I want to volunteer during the day on a weekday?
Our free community projects are only on nights and weekends. See also “What if I want a custom project for my group?”
What if I want a custom project for my group?
Developing custom projects for groups takes time and resources. HandsOn Bay Area is funded by donors, and we work hard to use these funds to serve the most pressing needs of our community in the most efficient and responsible way possible. If you are interested in working with us to create a custom project to fit the needs and interests of your group, we ask that you pay a fee. The proceeds from the fee will go to support HOBA’s work in the community. Please contact Lou Reda, at 415-541-9616 ext. 101 lou@hoba.org for details.
What if I have additional questions or concerns regarding how to create a team?
If you are still having trouble creating a volunteer team, please contact the staff at HandsOn Bay Area at info@hoba.org or call (415) 541-9616.
