HandsOn Bay Area (HOBA) partners with more than 200 nonprofits across the Bay Area to set up group-based service projects for volunteers to attend where they help to sustain programs and restore facilities.
All of our projects are managed and led by trained Project Leaders who serve as the liaison between the agencies and the volunteers. If you are simply looking for a place to list your agency's volunteer opportunities, or require a long-term commitment from volunteers, please contact the Volunteer Center of San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, VolunteerMatch, or another Volunteer Center in your area.
HOBA offers its nonprofit partners two types of volunteer engagement opportunities:
Project Calendar: These are ongoing, group-based volunteer projects, service-learning and leadership-development opportunities. Serving a monthly meal, sorting donations, weeding and planting, or weekly tutoring projects fit the bill. These are held on nights (after 5 p.m.) and weekends.
Hands@Work: These projects match corporate employees to a nonprofit, park or school. The work is something that can be done in one day, and is often facilities work. Repainting a shelter, giving resume training, or assembling disaster kits may be ways corporate volunteers can help.
If your organization ...

does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, marital or veteran status, or the presence of a non-related medical condition or disability.
will take responsibility for paying for required background checks or fingerprinting for volunteers.
