GARDEN: The Gardens at Lake Merritt
Established more than a half century ago, the Gardens at Lake Merritt serve as a source of great regional pride, a cultural and educational center and a place to enjoy tranquility in the heart of the city. They have an extensive array of herb and flower gardens managed by volunteers and the City, demonstrating low impact, environmentally friendly gardening techniques.
Join the Gardens at Lake Merritt as a Butterfly Club Volunteer! On the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month, volunteers help out in the Pollinator Garden. The day will begin with a gardening lesson (topics change monthly) before you get your hands dirty. Enjoy a great day of volunteering while also spending time with the butterflies at Lake Merritt!
