RESTORE HABITAT: Mt. Tamalpais Watershed

The Mt. Tamalpais Watershed is a natural wildland of great biological diversity and a popular recreational destination.  Come join other habitat restoration volunteers and learn about Marin’s unique plant and animal life while helping to plant natives and remove invasive weeds to restore sensitive habitat. Families welcome!

Please wear close-toed shoes and long pants and dress for variable weather. Bring your lunch and a reusable water bottle. Breakfast, water and tools will be provided. For cancellation information (weather, fire warnings, etc.), call 415-945-1128 after 7:30 a.m. the morning of the event.

PLEASE NOTE! Exact location on Mt. Tam will change monthly. You will receive an email the week of the project notifying you of exact location.

For May 2015:

Our serpentine hillsides host half of the watershed’s rare plant species as most plants can’t tolerate this unique soil. Unfortunately there is one intruder that wishes to disrupt the neighborhood—goatgrass, an invasive annual grass and one of the few weeds that can grow in serpentine grasslands. To combat this bully we will stalk like a lion, pull like an elephant! Intrigued? Meeting time & location: 9 a.m. at the Azalea Hill parking lot (off of Bolinas-Fairfax Road).
