SPECIAL PROJECT! LEND A HAND at Oakland Firehouse #1

Celebrate Oakland's first responders by sprucing up Fire Station #1, located located on Martin Luther King Junior Way between 16th and 17th Streets.  The grounds of this building, which also house the city's Emergency Response Center, have been neglected for many years. Join community volunteers and Oakland's Pollinator Posse, as we create a beautiful and drought tolerant landscape to upgrade this barren corner. We'll be giving the firefighters a facility upgrade that reflects their community commitment and creating a new way-station on Oakland's Pollinator Pathway-- safe passage through the urban landscape for the bees, butterflies and other winged creatures that help keep the city's greenery thriving
