PREPARE FOOD: Mary Elizabeth Inn
The Mary Elizabeth Inn (MEI) is a non-profit organization with a 95 year history of providing housing and support services to low-income women. The mission is to end the cycle of poverty and homelessness for women in the Bay Area by providing low income housing and support services.
Every Wednesday, The Mary Elizabeth Inn runs a food pantry that serves low-income women in the Tenderloin, China Town, and Nob-hill neighborhoods. The pantry provides a variety of items ranging from bread, milk, canned goods, fruits, and vegetables through a weekly free "farmers market.
Volunteers are needed to help set out the food at the start of the pantry and also help distribute the food. Volunteers are required to wear close-toed shoes and should be able to lift 25 pounds.
