Agency: Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy

Description: On Be The Change Day, join HOBA and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy and volunteer on Alcatraz Island. Tasks may include restoration and maintenance projects, ranging from work in the historic gardens, prison cells, museum, sally port, and recreation yard. Activities will include weeding and pruning, planting, sweeping and raking, painting, washing and polishing.

Help to preserve this national treasure and enjoy a great day on Alcatraz. All volunteers will be provided complimentary ferry transportation, breakfast and snacks and have the opportunity to take the audio tour and explore the island after the workday.

Please wear comfortable clothing in layers, that you don’t mind getting dirty, and closed-toe athletic shoes or hiking/work boots (no open-toe or slip-on shoes). (SF/Alcatraz)
