PREPARE FOOD: Food Shift
Food Shift works collaboratively with communities, businesses and governments to develop long-term sustainable solutions to reduce food waste and build more resilient communities. The Food Shift Kitchen, located at the Alameda Point Collaborative (APC) is up and running, and we have been busy transforming surplus produce into delicious food for the Alameda Food Bank, City Team Ministries, and events including the Oakland Earth Expo.
Volunteers assist with everything from sorting, cleaning, cutting, peeling, zesting, and packaging meals. Learn and practice valuable knife skills and kitchen safety protocols under the direction of trained Food Shift culinary team members.
