GARDEN: Literacy for Environmental Justice

literacy for environmental justice

Candlestick Point Eco-stewards, a project of Literacy for Environmental Justice (LEJ) works to cultivate the next generation of community leaders in SF's Bayview-Hunter's Point neighborhood. Bayview-Hunter's Point youth participate in a paid green-collar internship focusing on environmental education, community-based ecological restoration, civic activism, and good old-fashioned hard work in Bayview's expanding green spaces.

Spend a few hours of your Saturday getting your hands dirty as you work side-by-side with these budding horticulturalists to restore their community one seed at a time. At the end of the project there will be a potluck BBQ. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided, but please bring something to share with the group!

LEJ is happy to accommodate large groups for this event! Please email Nursery Manager at ildiko.polony@lejyouth.org with the day you'd like to come and the number of people you'd like to bring. Children 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult
