CLIMATE ACTION: Neighborhood Canvassing with Climate Smart Program

Project Overview

California Climate Action Corps - Community Climate Action Day, a climate volunteer event and celebration hosted in collaboration with California Volunteers, HandsOn Bay Area, the City of San Jose, Veggielution, and other San Jose community organizations! As part of California Climate Action Week, hundreds of volunteers will support projects throughout the city focused on urban greening, organic waste and edible food recovery, and wildfire resiliency.

Volunteers will be handing out informational material related to San Jose Clean Energy programs for low-income households and recycling and composting materials to residential homes in downtown San Jose. These efforts are intended to boost awareness and participation in environmental programs.

About California Climate Action Corps

In California, climate change is a threat to systems and people across the state. The impacts to our environment and health are worsening as we experience longer and more frequent droughts, devastating wildfires, and more. Each of us has a role to play. You can take meaningful action today to help communities across our state.

In 2020, as a part of California’s comprehensive strategy to address the climate crisis, California Volunteers, Office of the Governor, created the country’s first state-level climate service corps. The service corps was established to empower all Californians to take meaningful action to safeguard the climate.
