Strong Minds, Strong Hearts, Strong Individuals, Strong Community An engaging and challenging learning environment, where all students can develop the skills and tools they need to achieve academically and to become effective decision makers and productive citizens in today’s world In 1972 parents and teachers founded San Francisco Community School as a family-involved, child-centered school that aimed to provide a context-rich educational environment that would engage and support students from diverse backgrounds. Students learn in a hands-on way—experimenting and researching—guided by committed teachers who, each year, carefully plan engaging, interdisciplinary projects to teach specific learning objectives. And, because of our small size and our practice of “looping” grades (students have 2 years with the same teacher), each student at SFC is known well and supported on their individual educational path.
