Organization Profile

The Princess Project began in February 2002 in a casual conversation with a high school girl from Coro Northern California's Exploring Leadership summer youth program. We realized there are girls who are unable to attend the prom due to the expensive costs of dresses and accessories. Many of our friends and peers have dresses from weddings and parties that sit unused. Wanting to match this resource with the need of girls we knew, we sent an e-mail to a short list of friends, asking for dress donations, which we would then distribute to girls free of charge. The word quickly spread. From the overwhelming response we received from women, girls and companies throughout the Bay Area, The Princess Project was created.
