VIRTUAL OUTREACH: Census Party
As COVID-19 limits access to resources and any in-person interactions, virtual civic engagement in the 2020 Census is more critical than ever to ensure ALL communities are counted and their voices are heard across San Francisco. Volunteers will gather for a Census Outreach Party as ambassadors of the Census and make calls in under-counted communities in San Francisco to empower people to be counted! The Census defines how essential resources are allocated for the next decade. COVID-19 has further elucidated the severity of inequality and injustice faced by black and brown communities that directly impacts people’s health, well-being and financial stability. HandsOn Bay Area's 'Raise Your Hands' campaign, in coordination with Art+Action and SF Counts, strives to count the uncounted and invisibilized communities in San Francisco that are actively fighting for justice in the streets, online and in the community. “Take your butt to the computer and fill out the Census and make sure people know who you are and where you are.” - Rapper/Activist Killer Mike Be a part of this movement.
