HELP OUT: Sunday Friends

volunteer sunday friends

Sunday Friends empowers families to break the generational cycle of poverty. Their programs foster positive development in children while they educate and guide parents to support their children's future success. Children and parents work together to contribute to the community, learn practical life skills, and earn basic necessities.

The Treasure Chest and Parent Store, Sidewalk sale and Bike Shop make up our very own store for basic necessities, school supplies, games, toys, parent and teen items, and more. Families buy each item with the tickets they earn for participating in each program activity.

For this project, volunteers will act as special shopping guides for the families who are "buying" items! After training, each volunteer is paired with one family member at a time to help them shop, record items purchased, share conversation, carry items, and help make money-management decisions. When all families have shopped, volunteers help take down the program by putting away all of the materials. Shopping Guides must be 14 or older and read the Shopping Guide Orientation before their first time.
