HELP OUT: Florence Fang Community Farm
Project Overview
Florence Fang Community Farm is a nonprofit organization dedicated to food security, urban agriculture, environmental education, and workforce development. Volunteers will support essential farm operations through seasonal tasks such as planting, weeding, harvesting, composting, mulching, watering, and general farm maintenance. Volunteer activities directly support our youth education, community food distribution, and urban farming programs.

Established in 2014, the Florence Fang Community Farm is a community site that has served over 100 participating families. They have become the largest community farm and second most productive urban farm in the City. Project Requirements & Important Notes

Parking: Limited free street parking is available on Williams Ave., Thornton Ave., and nearby streets. Limited parking may also be available in the farm parking lot. Public Transit: The Muni T Third Street line stops approximately one block from the farm.

The site is outside on a farm, please wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty, closed-toe shoes suitable for uneven terrain, and dress appropriately for the weather. We also recommend bringing a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat.

Volunteers should check in just inside the main gate, near the farm fountain under the shaded pavilion. A staff member will be there to welcome the group and provide instructions before the volunteer activities begin.
Please do your part in keeping our community healthy. If you are immuno-compromised, at increased risk for severe illness, or feeling sick at all, please decline your registration to the event and register for a project at a less risky time. For additional resources and guidance on how to keep yourself healthy, visit the CDC website.
If you are interested in signing up as a group, please email perrin@handsonbayarea.org. For a one-time $74 group sign-up fee, we can assist your team with signing up. Please note we are unable to customize our commUNITY calendar projects and are unable to increase the number of spots that are available. For groups wanting a custom project, please refer to our corporate volunteering program.
