Organization Profile

California State Parks mission is to provide the health, inspiration, and education of the people of California by helping to preserve the state's extraordinary biological diversity, protecting its most valued natural and cultural resources, and creating opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation. Funded by the State of California, the San Mateo Coast District of the State Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for 13 parks on over 7,000 acres of land, from Montara to Ano Nuevo. Half Moon Bay consists of four smaller beaches with a two-mile crescent of shoreline.
