The students of Alvarado Elementary School succeed in a rigorous academic setting integrated with the creative arts, science, and gardening. Their school theme is "Every Child a Fluent Reader." Everyone is exposed to a rich array of literature in the classroom as well as in the school library. Parents can choose from their excellent Spanish Immersion or general education programs. At Alvarado, they believe that diversity constitutes strength and should be celebrated. They provide a private non-profit childcare program, as well as a public Park and Recreation Program after school. Other after-school programs include: the Girl Scouts, tutoring, chess, and computer clubs.
