This park is great if you want to get some fresh air! Four blocks long, the numerous paths allow you to walk or run. There is plenty of open space to play with your child and lots of trees to provide shade on a hot day. Also, its a great place for a picnic!Established:1867 Its expansive green slopes and towering trees belie the battles embedded in its history. Revolutionary War battles fought by the dashing French general and statesman Marquis de Lafayette, for whom the park is named. Battles over its ownership, beginning in 1864 and fought over for 70 years. "Lafayette Square and Who Owns It" asked a San Francisco Real Estate article in 1888.
